Re: sony pascal speakers {save 705}
I had one of the SS-MS835 speakers as a centre in one of the earlier incarnations of my speaker set-up. I was very impressed at the looks of the speaker and the build-quality (at least if the weight was anything to go by) was also excellent. It certainly discharged its sonic duties admirably too (ie, it sounded good).
As Adam said, these speakers had their high frequency output "optimised" for SACD playback (and performed very well in this role), although why Sony would seem to be so interested in promoting quality SACD reproduction is beyond me...
Would I reccomend them? Well, I only had one speaker to judge performance by but I can only assume that "the full set" would sound superb. In fact, I wouldn't mind a second one so I could use the pair to replace my slightly overwhelmed rear surrounds.
(All IMHO, of course...)
