Netsh.exe Command

Evenin' all,

I started to get "Page cannot be displayed" errors in Internet Explorer and after checking out everything I could think of was forced to call my ISP's helpline.

After a few basic things I was advised to run "netsh int ip reset" which did the trick.

Having done a little googling on this I have found that it resets the TCP/IP stack to an "as installed" condition.

I have two questions:

1. Can someone give a basic explanantion of what a TCP/IP stack actually is as I found other explanations somewaht confusing.

2. How did this fault occur on my PC?

Thanks

Big_Vern

Re: Netsh.exe Command

It is a protocol. It has layers like other networking protocols (seven layers a popular thing...).
This layered representation leads to the term protocol stack, which refers to the stack of layers in the protocol suite. It is that simple.

If you want more get
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/gg243376.html
it probably tells you all you need to know - and then some. seven and a half megs download.

as for the problem happening on your PC - you run Windows, things happen...
