How about one of the Velodynes in the Power Buys Forum, something like the CHT10??

The frequency range that you have quoted is meaningless unless the + or - Db is also quoted. This is a favourite trick of manufacturers.

The power output is also fairly meaningless as the REL Q Bass is an excellent sub with 40 watts on board whilst many subs with 200 watts plus are not very good. It's a matter of design and quality of components.

I haven't heard your sub but with respect, JVC are not reknowned for sub manufacturing and I presume that it is similar to those made by the other major Japanese electronics manufacturers.

A good sub will add deep bass without booming or sounding flabby and as Jase suggests the Velodyne is probably the best sound per pound at the moment.

I think you´ll be pleasantly surprised, going by the feedback of the owners of the Velodynes. Uncle Eric would´nt be including them in a Power Buy if they did´nt perform well.

What you need to ascertain specs is something like this, Frequency Response 25-150hz +/- 3db, (it´s the db figure that makes all the difference) some manufacturers quote the frequency as +/- 6db, 10db etc the higher the figure the worse the actual performance.

A figure of 30hz at +/- 10db is more like 40/50hz. They use these to give the appearance the speakers perform better than they actually do.

Low frequency response: -6dB @ 35Hz, in room typical response

Sorry that wasn't very constructive, whats your budget Roger?

Nice clean site, dude.

What is your budget and are you concerned about the size at all? If you want one hell of a sub for the money, pick up a second hand REL Q100E. I can't really fault mine; I bought it for £240 through these forums a few days ago (cheers mack!).

Once set up properly it sounds absolutely glorious in virtually any circumstance. Highly recommended.
