Silver Sony NW-HD5 cracks?

I just ordered a refurbished sony silver NW-HD5 today for $200 from a seller off amazon.

Then I discovered this old thread: Any more cracks appearing in the HD5 buttons ?

Is this true that the silver NW-HD5 is prone to button cracking? And if so, is it still true? Did sony fix it? I don't want cracks in my new unit.

Yes, it is true. They do crack. Sony did offer to fix any buttons that went this way. I'm not sure if that offer is still running. If I remember, they did fix the problem on the later revisions, but I couldn't promise...

I have have a silver HD5, and it's buttons did crack quite quickly. At first I was annoyed, but now, I'm not bothered. Hope yours are okay though!

Any chance that because the unit I bought was a refurb that sony may have already fixed the buttons?

So far, so good, been using the HD5 for 3 days extensively with no cracks.
