Hi all,
I'm looking for a simple TV tuner, one that will take standard analogue Type 75 Ohm co-axial cable input (for UHF and VHF) and that will output Composite Video and Stereo audio on 2 x RCA phono sockets. I need this for a panny 42" monitor I have, I want to watch TV on it, it does not have to be top notch as i will only be used when I'm recording on the digital side, but teletext would be nice it it was available:thumbsup:

thanks

Why not just get a simple freeview box and use a scart t- s-vid lead? Get a cheap box from a supermarket for example for under £30 - saw one the other day for £20!

a cheap DVB-T box in the uk will be cheaper and all with scart output composite + L&R if your not in the UK then are soem available but oftena twin tuner PVR for main device is preferable

do those free view boxes have an analogue tuner too

(I'm in Ireland and we have no free to air yet so I'm stuck with NTLs "digital" service that comes down the analogue line) i get about 50 stations from the digital side but i can get 18 from the analogue, so i want to watch them when the digital side is tied up recording.)

Edit, I have a twin tuner Hauppauge 1100, but i dont want to watch all my TV through a PC, at the moment I have a choice , and the picture is better straight from the NTL box to the monitor. The 42 inch unit i have has no Tv tuner card, they are very pricy, all i need is a tuner like to ones video players have, I just want to be able to change analoge stations on to my screen, my amp will handle switching the audio and video leads.
I can get a UK style free to air box very easily if it will do the job

not familiar with ntl in ireland but can a VCR not be used to tune in the analogue stations?

yeah thanks hornydragon

the tuner like the one in a VCR would do, but they are a bit big, looking for a neater unit , something small

well either a no sub STB (which screen do you have?) a DVD-R or a dedicated analogue tuner (expensive) the ProV or ProV+ would do (ebay may be best bet)

thanks hornydragon,

I didn't think this would be such a complicated issue, i might just leave it, i thought that this was a simple enough device that you'd use to watch TV on a monitor, with co axial in and red, white and yelloow outputs, i dont want a big VCR or anything,
something like this unit maybe
