Very, very funny :smashin:
Received it on Thursday, and already watched it twice. Fans of the original Clerks will love it, I laughed pretty much all the way through it.
The 2 disc DVD is the usual bumper offering from the good people at View Askew - there's a 90 minute documentary, 3 commentaries and about half an hour of deleted scenes. Not had chance to watch any of the extras yet, but if they're as funny as previous View Askew offerings, this could well turn out to be the best value DVD of the year.
I just hope Kevin Smith decides to make a Clerks III, and if so, he doesn't leave it 10 years before doing so :)
Ian.
I was a bit worried about this film coming out so long after the original, but it was fantastic. These guys are my favourite movie characters, so funny
I had pre-ordered the DVD and would have had already, but cancelled when I saw the Best Buy exclusive set from the States. I just had to have this

Part of me hopes they do a third, but to make another one as good as the first two would be difficult. I was reading in one magazine they are about to do an animated Clerks movie, with all the actors providing the voices, so ther is that to look foward to. :smashin:

Yeah, buy the animatted series wasn't particularily good. Easy to why it got canned after about 6 episodes.

man I need to see this film, loved clerks and most of the other K smith films. I'm assuming this would be a yes, but I'll ask anyway, is there plenty of references to other kevin smith films or just the original clerks?

there weren't that many references in clerks 2 actually. kevins mum pops up again at the end, and there is the got christ t shirts, nothing much else really
i don't recall a jaw's reference either, kevin used to always include a reference to jaw's in each movie, like the dorito in the dip in the original movie
i didn't think much of clerks 2 the first time i watched it, i suppose i had big expectations and was a bit dissapointed, but i enjoyed it better the second time around, which is strange as dogma and JaSBSB were both far funnier the first time viewing
i wonder what's next. chasing amy 10th anniversary? or i wonder if he will release the longer cut of jersey girl

I'm not in anyway a fan of the original Clerks, it always seemed like a student film, I didn't like the animated series either,(too tame), but I do have all the other View Askew films on disc,(Jersey Girl not included), and I really enjoyed Clerks II. It didn't have the gag quota of Jay & Silent Bob Strike back, but I found it to have more heart, and that's alot more than I can say about most big budget Hollywood fair. Great extras, as always with Smith's films, however: You made Jersey Girl, Mr Smith. It got a bit annoying after a while, hearing Smith badmouth this particular film.
I'm not defending it here, I just wish Smith would've had the b*lls to say, "Yeah, I made Jersey Girl. Didn't work out the way I intended, but there you are. I made a mistake, let's move on..." It just comes off as fake after a while.

i'm pretty sure he has said words to that effect actually, it might be on the commentry track or extras on clerks 2, or on evening harder. look at the commentry on mallrats, they rip the **** out of the film far worse than any critic

i haven't kept up with the news on Kevin smith lately but the last i heard he was hoping to be doing "The Green Lantern" (could have been hornet tho) and a Fletch film.
He said he was only going to do fletch if Jason lee could play him, but all this was way before My name is Earl and the bosses weren't so sure on Kev's idea.
That might have changed or it might have just been shelved now.
Also the "Evening with Kevin Smith" dvd is great, i have the 2nd on it way at the mo.

the green hornet idea was from years ago when he was in the running for superman (his script was rejected). i think he's better off sticking to the indie stuff myself

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Rosario Dawson, doing the dance. Bouncing! She is very very sexy!
Funny film too though! Although the LoTR bit is in the Evening Harder DVD, which is also pretty good, although I found Jason Mewes a bit of a waste! Plus on the US disk the americans annoyed me a little!
Loved the LOTR bit and the Buffalo Bill 'Goodbye Horses', the funniest parts for me was the Porch Monkey and the **** and Fly meal, especially because he knew what the taste was.:rotfl:

I enjoyed this (on HD-DVD) much more than "Clerks", but it was let down by some God-awful amateur "acting", particularly from Brian O'Hallorhan (Dante) who made the average porn movie actor's "wooden" spoken lines look like an oscar-winning performance.
Awkward pauses before/after quotes, exaggerated face movements, and delivery that sounded like he was tired of reading the stuff off a card for the 30th time really had me thinking in the first 15 minutes that Jonathan Ross had got it right when he ripped the film apart.
Fortunately the script is good enough and funny enough, and features two or three stand-out acting performances that it was worth sticking with, but it's surprising to see an acting performance that even local theatre groups would turn their nose up at appearing in a mainstream movie.
