Ok everyone,so I think most of us on here are agreed that Daniel Craig has done a fine job in the role and breathed new life into the franchise but how does his performance stack up against the others?

makes the bond franchise into a serious film again after roger moore brought it almost to 'carry on' cheesyness!

Daniel Craig is awesome in the new bond movie.brutal but human.Cool and calculating just as a hit-man should be.

I've gone for Dalton :god: He was the first Bond I saw, so his films are my faves :smashin: .
I like the Brosnan & Connery films, but never was a fan of Moore. I thought Lazenby was good, I actually like OHMSS. I thought Craig was terrific and he could take over if he follows up CR with another on like it

I really can't decide...For me, it's a tie between Connery, Brosnan, & Dan Craig.

Discounting Dan Craig for the moment...

Connery acts Bond the best - I think he delivers the lines better than the other actors, and he just oozes the 'cool' factor, but for me, Brosnan has the image, and he acts the part very well...I suppose he's the 'new generation' of Bond and for me, is the only one who comes close to Connery.

Now we come to Dan Craig - I think he is superb...acts the part perhaps better than any of the previous actors - hes the only Bond where I feel he could genuinely kick my ass, and while he's not the typical good looking Bond, he is a bit rougher round the edges, which is what Bond should be like, in my opinion - the guy is a secret agent, not a model. Dan Craig has the potential, but it's impossible to judge after one film. I remember thinking Brosnan had the potential after Goldeneye (which is my fave Bond film) but I think he went downhill after that (certainly after Tomorrow never Dies) - if Dan Craig is as good as he was in Casino Royale for his next few films, I honestly believe he could be the best Bond of all time.

And for Dan Craig's sake, I really hope he does keep it up - I bet all the people who started the 'boycott Daniel Craig as Bond' websites and petitions feel very stupid now lol...

Have to see Casino Royale before I vote but Timothy Dalton gets my vote so far and think from what I heard that Daniel Craig's Bond is out of the same mould, tough but venerable to his emotions.

Sean Connery is without doubt the best bond, because he is the one they are all judged against and has starred in a number of them and has show his pedigree.

It would be Connery, Brosnan(the first 2) and then Craig, but I have a feeling Craig will surpass Brosnan with the next one....AND if the script is good could be on par with Connery by his 3rd outing.

My two cents....

Everyone always goes on about Sean Connery being the best Bond, but he really wasn't all that. I voted for Dalton who's portrayal of Bond was more like the books, tough, ruthless and menacing (Licence To Kill is the only Bond movie to be rated 15), although Daniel Craig certainly vies for top spot as well. If Craig sticks with the same brooding performance that he delivers in Casino Royale, I reckon he could pip Dalton.

I grew up watching Roger Moore as Bond and I reckon he made a conscious decision to try and differentiate himself from Connery by making it a bit more light-hearted although he did play it a lot tougher in For Your Eyes Only. Pretty-boy Lazenby was as good as useless whilst Brosnan was on par with Connery, possibly better, but hampered by some crap movies (take a bow Goldeneye and Die Another Day).

1. Dalton
2. Craig
3. Brosnan
4. Connery
5. Moore
6. Lazenby
7. Niven

DG

it's got to be sean connery, gotta stick up for my homeboy, altho daniel craig did an excellent job and i'm sure will become even better. peirce brosnan made some great movies too. i used to like roger moore in the 70s when i was a kid, but he was the cheesiest and campest bond. i try and forget about timothy dalton, and i did forget about that other guy

Just seen Casino Royal and I still think Timothy Dalton has the edge. I thought Craig was still a little rough round the edges and did not have the touch of suaveness the other Bonds had. Now whether that was intended we will see in his next outing if there is an evolution in the character.

Yes the rough around the edges and lack of suaveness was deliberate. In previous films Bond had been a 00 for some time and not a noob.

I think that he will evolve in subsequent films. If he doesn't then it will stagnate as it did before.

Connery... for now. That's only because Craig has only done one movie so far, I need to see where he takes the character in the future. It's a close call though.
