This DETOLF Glass-door cabinet for £34.90 @ Ikea seems to be used by a number of people I know.

Depending on how large each piece of memorabilia is you could also use on of these (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=60979&langId=-20&categoryId=15645&chosenPartNumber=00093136) which is what i use to display my vintage Star Wars figures

They don't do chicken or fish either.

Also from Ikea, the Billy bookcase range is very flexible(glass shelves/doors) and good for the larger items. I use them and have also got a couple of Bertby ones as well.

They do deliver you just have to go to the store to buy it first then pay an extortinate delivery charge.

Depends on your budget really...

I have some expensive collectibles so wanted to ensure I house them in a glass display cabinet, free from dust, prying fingers etc so had a custom one made.
Cost me 1000, but was well worth it.
I'll post a pic shortly...

levilal would like to see that,

i bought my wife an xmas pressie today, picked up at a local antiques shop a wall hung early 20th cent display unit for all her masons bits and bobs.
Cost was really good too, needs a bit of waxing and tlc which i enjoy so its a good buy.

Does anyone know if its ok to put heavy stuff in DETOLF Glass-door cabinet? I have 2 GG figures & i want them displayed at the top but im worried about the shelf smashing.

each shelf is stated to be able to hold 6kg from here http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15561&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=11638&langId=-20&categoryId=15645&chosenPartNumber=10011055 so it would depend on which GG figures you intend to put on them but I would be surprised if they were too heavy but obviously it would be better to check the weight first

Well i think they are around 20kg but surely they can comfortably hold more & Ikea are just covering themselves.

Has anyone seen any non-Ikea display cabinets? I can not get to an Ikea and the few at Argos seem like a bit of a rip-off.

I've got BONDE from Ikea. They do a tv stand thing and then cupboards that fit either side. with glass doors. They stopped doing glass shelves for it though but i had some cut at the glass shop.

If you have a look at statueforum.com (http://www.statueforum.com/) and search the forum you should find people posting pictures of their display cabinets etc.

They do deliver you just have to go to the store to buy it first then pay an extortinate delivery charge.

I see Ikea are trialing online shopping for East Midlands & Cambs areas Click Here (http://www.ikeapostcodecheck.co.uk/). No use for the rest of us though.
