Female in Need!!!

OK now that i have your attention, i really really need some help.

I know that my bloke wanted to get a pronto remote control but couldnt justify the money on it, so he then looked at the more affordable harmony remotes, which yeah he liked , but didnt love.

So here i am trying to be a great girlfriend and getting totally lost in all teh technical info so if anyone could help me i would really appreciate it.

This is what id ideally like for him.
Touch screen
Colour screen
Learning remote
not big and bulky
doesnt look cheap and tacky

i looked the marantz 9200, the RC9800i, pronto 980 all seem to be generally what im looking for and then some, but the biggest problem i have is they are way to expensive in the UK, i just cant afford it and now im getting all depressed cause i know hed love one but i dont want to get him some cheap version of what he really wants.
Can anyone offer up some solutions, product ideas, good places to shop??

Thanks in advance

Re: Female in Need!!!

How about the Harmony 1000? it is due out middle of december, I have one on order. It should be £300, may get it cheaper. If you can't afford a colour pronto then this may be your best bet.

Re: Female in Need!!!

I have just replaced my Pronto with a Harmony

Pronto takes a lot more ‘programming’ which is fine at fist but gets a little tiresome after a while

The Harmony looks neater, it is smaller, I think the fact it has all the buttons on one screen is better (I.e. more hard buttons than a pronto), it is very flexible and unless you have some weird set up will do what it says on the box.

I got mine from a local store (currys I think) it was about 20 quid more expensive than the web – BUT if you keep the receipt if he HATES it (unlikely I think after he has logged on the web site and started to fiddle) you could always take it back (make sure the store lets you!).

Re: Female in Need!!!

Hi thanks for the advice just wish id read it earlier, i took the plunge and bought one i got the marantz rc9200, i know its not the latest and greatest, but its colour screen touch screen has some hard buttons and he will have hours and hours of fun trying to figure out how to use it ( he enjoys stuff like that, hes still programming and playing with the satnav i got him last year hehe )

Someone please tell me i did good on the marantz?? or just lie to me lol

Re: Female in Need!!!

I would have recommended a NevoSL. Very easy to program and a delight to use.
