I posted on this a while back and the general feeling was that £2k + for a glorified clock radio was a bit OTT.

You could get a lot more for the same money

Yup £299-400 is the going rate NWG I think you mean the Bose Lifestyle systems. I found the sound of this little player quite acceptable Oreoboy, in fact 400 is way too much to spend on this IMHO I seen one last week in my local papers classifieds for £180.

FWIW I think you will get better performance from the Denon DM-30 @ £250, the Denon comes out tops IMO and has more upgrade optionsa long the lines of CD-R/ MD/ Cassette.

BTW this is the only Bose piece of equipment I would let in my house for hifi purposes and even then it would be for use in the kitchen/kazzy IMHO.

If you don't need CD, try the Henry Kloss Tivoli Table One @ £99.
Fantastic radio performance.

I can back up the tivoli radio idea. Shockingly good sound from a little box, and clarity. Plus, it's not Bose, so thats a bonus too.
Good call Gringotts

Best friends wife has a Bose she loves it, it leaves me cold. Just got the father in law to buy a Tivoli as I think they were great. he is 'picky' as it is replacing a Hacker. Nuff said.
