View Full Version : DVD cases...
Hi all,
Anyone know a good place online to buy new DVD cases? I particularly need those double amaray region one cases that Criterion and Fox (amongst others) use a lot - e.g. The Abyss, Traffic, Royal Tenenbaums etc.
I was sure Movietyme used to sell them, but I cannot find them on their site.
Thanx
Lex.
PS some of them are rare colours - e.g. Akira, Titus and The Abyss - Can you buy those too?

i have picked up some from my local comp fair

scroll down to the bottom.
I bought 100 of the single disc ones in black and use them to replace ones that have been shrink wrapped on too high a temperature making them wrinkly and horrible.
Use um for dvd'r too ;)
Got mine from here: http://www.cd-rmedia.co.uk/cgi-bin2/cdrmedia/listproducts.pl?type=direct&catid=12&manufacturer=&startat=6&sstring=

Do you know how many double dvd cases would weigh up to 025kg for the £1.30 postage.
Thanks
Still nobody has the Double DVD cases I am after. :(
I don't think that region two distributors use them as I have never seen a DVD released in this country in one.

Lex,
If you're very polite, then you can often contact the respective companies, and simply ask that they send you a replacement case for X title, even if you are outside of the USA.
Criterion are usually excellent about this, as long as you ask nicely, and don't abuse their generosity.
Alternatively, you could suggest to them, that you would be willing to offer them a small amount of money, or are willing to pay postage and packing costs to wherever it is you want the case(s) shipped to. Nine times out of ten, then will say not to worry about it, but like I said, it's dependant on how many cases you actually need. Also, the cases usually only come in black. I know that's a tad annoying, but it may be your only option.
If you just go to the Criterion Website (http://www.criterionco.com/asp/ask_form.asp) , then e-mail the guy there - John Mulvaney. He should be able to help you out. Don't mention that you want the cases for other companies films though. (I don't think it would go down too well, somehow. ;) )
Hope this is of use to you.

Thanx Pooch, a good idea.
Ironically all my Criterion disc cases are in good condition, I need replacements for - The Abyss, Titus, Akira & Manhunter (plus some others I can't remember). Maybe I will try writing to FOX as well. :)

Lex,
No probs. As long as the cases are identical in style (if not colour) then I don't think it should matter too much, who or where from you get them.
Let me know if you do get any, and where from. I'd be interested to see how the companies like Fox respond to your request. ;)

I don't know if you ever solved this one or if this is of any help, but I was just browsing Maplins bargains as one does and came across these, I remembered someone had asked for them so here you are.
Type VW90 into the code search at www.maplin.co.uk

Thanks MonkeyDonkey.
Personally I am still looking for the american style 2 disc cases. ;) :)
does anyone know what we are calling the new cases that the likes of the R2 We Were Soldiers are being released in. They are solid cardboard fold-over jobs with the jewel-type holder inside and printing continuing on the inside. They are very nice, I prefer them to digipacks.

I posted this link on the snapper case thread a while back ... 29p per amaray case, and stock doubles too ....
http://www.aprmedia.com/acatalog/Amaray_DVD_Cases.html
Is this what you were looking for?

I don't think the ones I was referring to would be available in this country - I have only ever seen them on region one DVDs. :( ;)
