Hi,
I recently purchased the above laptop and i'm entitled to a free vista upgrade. How likely i'm i going to benefit from 64-bit computing as the processor is AMD Turion 64 x2 dual core and will it work:confused:

Not too sure about the 64 bit part of your question, but if they're giving you a free upgrade, it will work.
EDIT: Dual core, bonus, should be pukka, I reckon you'll be making the most of things
Otherwise they wouldn't offer it.
I've just ordered an Acer lappy, also with a free upgrade, for the youngest daughter's crimbo pressie.
I just hope it's ok, as I've heard the after-sales is horrendous
Basically, the biggest requirement is 512Mb of RAM.
Otherwise, pretty much any new comp can run it.
The way I look at it, you have to go with the latest OS, as long as it's better.
BTW, I've heard Vista basic is a waste of time. Ultimate is what you should be looking at.

No doubt you will be able to use Vista BUT run this from Microsoft and it will advise what bits may need looking at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/upgradeadvisor/default.mspx.
Do NOT get too hung up on the software drivers as these usually can be downloaded from the relevant sites.
