View Full Version : LOTR on CRT
I watched 45 mins or so of Lord of the Rings last night, it really does look superb. Very clean transfer, in fact when I saw it at the cinema the film was a bit of a mess, so a very nice suprise. Sounds great too. Anyone else tried it yet?
waiting for november's 4 disc set.......

If ever there was a good reason to have a CRT this is the film. those lamped PJ's will jsut miss all the black detail. Lip sync seemed a bit out to me.
This is THE new test film. Loads of B&W material
Not spoiling but I just watched it on my Panny ae100 and although the blacks are lifted nothing is getting clipped all the low intensities are there albeit the black point itself is a bit raised. And the only way I'll ever persuade my missus to let me get a crt Roland is by easing her into this malarkey gently like.

Watched this on my CRT last night and have to say of all the films, this has got to be one of the best. The picture was fantastic.
Black levels where awesome, detail was immense and greens where so lush. The first shot to Frodo in the Shire was like you were the camera.
This looked better than I remember at the flicks.
As for the sound, this is a sub tester if ever. This is one of the best films so far and a must buy for me in November. Can we please have a full bitrate DTS mix....

The disc is technically one of the best I have watched with my marquee, reference quality. Otherwise he movie itself was a big disappointment lacking all the depth of characters of original story. This film was made for action fans, younger than me.

I dunno, picture quality only looked so-so... after I'd just watched Gordon's HiDef demonstration .
Trouble is, I know I probably won't be able to live with a fixed-panle device now :(
