Sony PVR 500 £187 in Sainsburys

Just been and done the shopping and spotted this... Nectar points as a bonus but thought that was a pretty good price, even if the unit isn't supposed to be that much cop!!

The Sony PVR 500 is a Digifusion FVRT200 clone with inferior software. How can £187 be a bargain when you can get the Digifusion for <£100?

Becuase to some people the look of things matters... and the Digifusion ldoesn't look as good as the Sony.

Though i do take your point...

BE AWARE !! I bought this recently (being a bit of a Sony loyalist).
Awful. the fans make such a racket...even when in stand-by.
It lasted 24 hours in my house before it was exchanged for a Humax...and let me assure you...the Humax is virtually silent compared to the Sony.
Avoid the Sony at all costs.

I read a lot of reviews before i got my Toppy. Basically they all said the Sony is a dog. Very unresponsive and extremely loud.

I am not one of those Sony haters, but i would seriously avoid this one. That said, i personally think it's the best looking PVR out there.

What a shame they had to resort to looks in high hopes that such a disguise would sway sales their way and then have the cheek to charge much more than the engineering that they put in to it or took out of it!!. I'm not sure what day it was when someone came up with this very poor follow up to the VTX-D800. From one extreme to the other.
