dv137 to avr350 coax or phono for audio

Guys i was wondering what people thought just for cd playback, and not taking into account the direct option on the amp, would there be a difference between using the dvd coax connection to the amp or dedicated stereo from the mchl outs?

I know for sacd when i get some and the cables i have to use mchl outs but i i put some cd's on the other day and wasn't overly impressed with the sound coming out and was hoping its because i was using the coax and not a stereo rca cable.

thoughts?

Re: dv137 to avr350 coax or phono for audio

With my speakers, sub, and Nordost Frey speaker cable (some of it is Valkyrja but they are the same), I dramatically prefer listening to digital with Nordost Valhalla digital cable, as opposed to analogue from my Frey intercons. I listen in Dolby movie mode with some tone correction (some light bass boost on the fronts and center, crossover at 40Hz to sub) but no delays, and I find the timing, tunefulness, and dynamics impeccable. Please try for yourself.

I have both digital and analog connected.
for CDDA and MP3's I prefer analog. No delays / trim.
But for Mp3's I prefer "MUSIC" effect in Stereo mode.

For DVD's it is always Digital with delays set.

Because my speakers are KEF3005 and it is set to small+sub listening in Direct mode is out of question.
