I want to buy a high capacity compact flash card for my Canon Powershot G2 camera. there are some good deals on the net but I have heard that there can be quite a difference in performance. can anyone offer advice on which brands are best.

Lexar x12 are pretty good (I have a 256Mb Lexar x12). If you want to pay a lot more you can go for the Lexar x16 'Pro' but remember that in a lot of cameras the CF performance is limited by the camera rather than the CF card itself - my camera the Olympus E-10 being a case in point. It's CF performance is diabolical!

Hello Willie,

Here is an excellent link (http://www.dpreview.com/articles/mediacompare/)

The cheapy stuff you see is often slow.

Not a problem if you don't mind waiting a few seconds before taking the next shot.............

Buy quality.

Transcend or Ridata/Ritek are excellent for the price.

A USA supplier is here (http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/display_products.cfm?category=Compact%20Flash)

Great service, but you will most likely get charged customs, unless you have a friend who can post it to you.

Good luck,

Mark.
