Question for KV-32 or 28 LS60 owners

Hi

I've just had this set replaced as the old set had various problems. All seems to be OK now apart for 1 problem I also had with the old set.

When playing DVD's via any of the two RGB scarts I get interference on some scenes. I know the DVD & scart cable are OK as they were fine on my old TV. So either this is a common problem with this model and I've had 2 duffers, or there is a incompatibility problem with my DVD player (Pioneer DV-626) and this TV.

Can any LS60 owners confirm that DVD playback via RGB is OK on their setup ?

If it is a incompatibilty problem I suppose I have 2 choices

1. Get the TV replaced with a different model (reluctant because apart from this I like the set)

2. Buy a new DVD player

Hi Sharring,

Glad you got a better set than before at least.

I have no problems at all on RGB with my KV28LS60.

My DVD player is a Sony DVP-NS300 and it is connected directly to AV1 via an Ixos 126AV scart cable. I also have a Pace DTVA which is connected directly to AV2 (the Pace comes with a hardwired scart). I use RGB for both.

What sort of interference is it?

Do you have anything passing through the DVD player? Or are you connecting the DVD player to something else (e.g. digibox) and then going into the TV scart? If so, these things might be causing the interference?

Hi Squirrel

The interference mostly happens during (some) outdoor scenes and consists of indistinct horizontal lines flashing across the screen. The DVD can be paused at this point and the flashing continues.

I think it possibly has somthing to do with video level ?

As regards to your question about connections I also have a Ixos 126AV scart cable connected to AV1

The only other connection is the VCR connected directly via (cheap) scart onto AV3

I will endevour to borrow a DVD player from someone to see if it is a compatibilty issue.

Sorry, forgot to mention I also have a Thomson VCR connected to AV3 via another Ixos 126AV.

The problem sounds very weird indeed!

You've probably tried this already, but does turning off the DNR help in the TV's menus? (You have to switch to a non-RGB feed, turn it off, and then switch back).

Also, does it only happen on PAL or NTSC disks or both? The reason I ask is that, if it is NTSC only, then it might be your player outputting PAL-60 rather than NTSC that is causing this. My Sony only outputs a pure NTSC stream.

no interference on RGB

Sharring,

Sorry abt yr set. Mine is KV32LS60. Like Squirrel God, no problems at all... no interference whatsoever on RGB.

RGB1 to Sony DVD plyr via an Ixos 126AV scart cable.
Great picture.

RGB2 to Dreamcast.
Awesome picture. Better than the arcade machines IMO.

Can u get an engineer to see yr telly?

Hope that helps.
