New Graphics card question - Help

Hey all,

My computer is a few years old now with a geforce4 MX graphics card which is struggling to play anything these days. Not sure on my motherboard specs but i know my current card is in an AGP x4 slot.

The questions....
1 Will an AGP x8 card be compatable?
2 Will i be able to run it at the x8 or will it be restricted to x4?
3 Any one got any recommendations for a new graphics card?I don't need anything too fancy. Just one that will play new games for bout £30-£50?

Cheers for helpin

Re: New Graphics card question - Help

an agp 8X card should be compatable
if your motherboard dos'nt support 8X it wll revert to 4X
you are going to struggle at 30 to 50 quid unless you can find something like a geeforce 6600gt on offer or second hand, which is probably the lowest spec card i would go for. or an equivalent ATI card.
