As title, really looking forward to this, with the true hd soundtrack could be one of the best to date.

its not out till the 28th and thats the usa date..!! and they will not send untill release day,, how have you managed that.??:confused:
its getting released here in december on hd aswell.

Web store's like axel and dvdworldusa send out dvd sometimes 3 weeks before they are released in states.

No ones more shocked then me mate, but ive had it confirmed, its coming, and almost 2 weeks early. Im not complaining.:grin:

I recived CARS 6 days before release date from movietyme.
My supermen returns also been starting processing this morning

My King Kong Gift Set is still at that stage from middle of last week..

Retailers like Movietyme and Axelmusic are well known for recieving stock before release, sometimes a whole month early so this isnt that suprising.

As it's coming from the US and it's a dvd combo will the dvd side be region 1?
Quite fancy watching this before I get my HD-DVD player ...

Well I am only guessing mate but it makes sense, after all the US HD-DVD Players are coded to R1 for SD-DVD's so makes sense that US HD-DVDs that include both would be R1.

Yeah this is what I was assuming ..it's just it seems to list it on dvdworldusa as region: All. now i don't know if this applies to the whole combo or just the HD-DVD. Must be a way to find out...
also ..how long does it take dvdworld to ship? Mines been waiting payment clearenace since last night.

Depends how important you like your sound.
BluRay version does not have English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound.

HD DVD all the way Adam - although slightly more expensive than the Blurry version, it does have Dolby True HD as DrPepper says and I can lend it to my dad for him to play the DVD version as it's a combo disc!

Well guys, I hope it's better than the R3 2 disc SD version. In the words of comic book guy "Worst Transfer Ever"!! Dark scenes where no is visisble (where I can distinctly remember them being there when i saw it at the cinema...), macroblocking in nearly every scene, herringboning in every scene where there's steps, brick walls or blinds.
Terrible!! My r1 version (don't ask...:rolleyes: ) is on the way from axelmusic. I'm not hoping for any better as pressings these days are nearly always standard worldwide from the big studios...aren't they?

Mine arrived this morning!
And guess what? I can't play it till I get my 360 addon lol. In fact I still won't be able to play it when that comes since they are both Christmas presents. Ah well looking fiorward to a "Super" Christmas day night with my new toys (including a HD PJ and 108" screen).
The box looked nice however ;) Before the wife whisked it away to wrap.

Mine arrived this morning too although i'm slightly annoyed of the fact that I paid an extra 75p for extra bubble wrap protection & it still came with a chunk smashed from the corner of the case.

picture is amazing it does have the warm fuzzy soft focus glow (but that is intentional!:) just finished watching the 3hr doc which filled the screen (claerly an upconvert but im not complaining) the plane scene in true-hd is an audio visual treat:smashin:

Since it's a combo had a chance to watch a little on my upscaling dvd player and must admit the PQ was rubbish even by SD DVD standards.

mine came today too, cheers to movietyme again, and i did the same as you mate, using my upscaling player and i thought the pic was not very good either.I look forward to checking out the hd flipside once my unit arrives from movietyme:smashin:

Looks great, although as pointed out, it appears intentionally soft to match the originals. Sound is excellent (TrueHD) as well. One bonus is that the deleted scenes and trailers are 1080P and feature 5.1 surround (shame you can't reincorporate some of these back into the film:( ).
Can't wait for the original and the sequel Donner's cut. Would have liked III in HD and even IV (I'm a completest:grin: )

I'm going to have to disagree on PQ. I don't understand why they would intentionally make it soft. If it was intentional it was a mistake as it ruined the film for me. The PQ looked really dull in places and doesn't come close to Riddick or Training Day. Even Batman with it's more darker scenes looked better. I'm really disapointed. I think problem is with it being shot in digital.
Agree with you on the sound though, it's absolutely awesome.

Why would they go to the trouble of doing a different encode for absolutely no reason at all? It should be exactly the same verison on both discs.

well i watched a bit more of the sd version upscalled last night, it is terrible in parts, for proof just skip to the bedroom scene at the end,in the dark corners of the screen it looks really bad.

It just doesn't make sense... I'm disappointed! They shot the whole film in HD to start with... so should be really good in SD version too...
