Question Bad films to remake

There are many remakes of classic films and argueably the majority are worse than the original. So why not take bad films and make them better?

Which films have you seen that you know are bad, but could have been great if the production was better?

Re: Bad films to remake

The Italian Job, oh wait, they already did that.

Can't understand why the original is so popular, it's naff. On the other hand I quite liked the remake (mostly because it had nothing in common with the original apart from having minis).

Escape To Victory with Becks, Rio and Rooney etc.., except they have to escape from the Big Brother house instead of a prisoner of war camp. Roy Keane and Zidane could play the guards. Jose Mourinho would be the power mad commandant and Arsene Wenger the sinister 'doctor' carrying out strange experiments to make them more French.

I'll get my coat.

I think he's asking the opposite, he wants to know which films that were bad that should be remade.

Re: Bad films to remake

Damnation Alley: the main character "Hell Tanner" is the archetype for all those nihilistic anti-hero types (snake plissken anyone).

Its also the archetypal post apocalyptic road warrior story.

The current film version shares little with the book beyond the title and post apocalyptic setting to be honest.

Well, that, and the fact they stole a horde of gold bars from Italy

Re: Bad films to remake

The Earthsea Stories by Ursula K Leguin.

They churned out a terrible TV movie version courtesy of the sci-fi channel. Not even close to doing the books justice.

The Stand by Stephen King...lacklustre TV movie again . Not entirely without merit but it blows it . Cracking opening which is almost perfect but its downhill from there very quickly.

Don't agree with King Kong or T3. I thought they were both excellent.

I also think The Stand is one of the best mini series (even though there are differences with the King original story).

I also think the Italian Job remake was a lot better than the original which is awful imo.

Re: Bad films to remake

A lot of people didn't like the Matrix sequels, so I'll say those.

I loved them, but if it means I get 2 more Matrix films, I'll be happy!
