Vista Pricing?

Just about to receive a high end laptop and realised the upgrade coupon scheme wont allow for an upgrade to Vista Ultimate....so wondering whether to cancel my order and wait for Jan when Vista will allegedly arrive...

Does anyone have a link to the proposed upgrade prices for Vista Ultimate?
The point of my post is that i am wondering whether to cancel my order and wait till Jan

Re: Vista Pricing?

You can expect to pay in the region of £169 for a Vista Ultimate upgrade from Windows XP Pro, so if you're not busting a gut for a new laptop and want Vista then you may as well wait another couple of months.

Are you sure you'll need ultimate? Also, has there been any news on the anytime upgrade thing? If MS are still doing this - you could use the coupon to upgrade to home premium, then using anytime upgrade, upgrade to Ultimate. Although I'm not sure if that still in Vista.

Re: Vista Pricing?

In the past, wasn't there a top wheeze where you could buy a much lower priced OEM version of XP if you bought a bit of hardware at the same time? (from recollection Ebuyer allowed this)...hopefully the same with Vista?

yea - hell, some sites are selling OEM versions of XP without any hardware being bought. Although there is a restricition on the OEM version, that being it can't be moved to a different PC (like the retail version can), and is locked to the motherboard it is first installed on.
