HD-A1 disc tray lock
Bear with me on this, long story!
Just back from NYC where I bought the last remaining HD-A1 in Best Buy - which was the display model. They had no remote, so I got a nice discount. I have 2 other Tosh DVD player remotes, both of which seem to be able to communicate with the A1 [more on that in a minute] and have bought a replacement A1 remote on eBay, delivery by the weekend hopefully.
The player works perfectly, but I can't eject the damn demo disc! Apparently the A1 has a tray lock feature that allows retailers to prevent theft of demo discs. I got nowhere fast talking to Best Buy staff on the phone, but I did get help from Tosh USA who told me the button sequence that should unlock the tray. I tried it with both of my Tosh DVD remotes, but nothing doing. When I use the remotes though the display on the A1 changes from timecode to 'HD DVD' so there is obviously some communication...
So, I'm hoping that when I get the proper remote it will be straightforward, but in the meantime, can anyone help me with a workaround or reboot info - after all, the A1 is essentially a PC right?
The manual eject on the drive doesn't seem to be working, rather than a mechanical eject like on DVD drives, maybe it's electrical, as in, it is also locked by the tray lock feature?
Any help/ideas would be great!! Thanks in advance...
