i'm not a big horror fan, but i usually watch a few horror flicks around halloween time to keep in the spirit. i like the old hammer movies, but most slasher flicks bore me, and i find it difficult following stories where things can suddenly turn into monsters and bamboozle the laws of physics (or should that be psychics?)

anyways, i watched interview for a vampire followed by the devil rides out last nite, and need a help in choosing movies for tonight

so far i've pulled out

dracula (coppola version)
interview for a vampire 2 (with alliyah)
carrie
the hitcher
young frankenstien
creepshow
the hunger (movie)

so it's likely a choice of that lot, and maybe a hammer flick afterwards. i also have the omen and exorcist (originals) and stuff like that.

what's your choice for a halloween nite of flicks? i didn't watch the channel 4 best scary movies as after finding out the scariest bits of 50 movies, the movies won't have that element of surprise and scariness anymore

btw, the only movie i could say i found scary to some degree was the shining, which topped some scary poll this week. what i found scary about it was the score by wendy carloss. there was something disturbing about it. perhaps the idea that a guy did the soundtrack for clockwork orange to pay for a sex change has something about it (at least he didn't try and hold up a bank).

Tonight for me it will be...

Accacia
Whispering Corridors

2 Asian horrors I still havent found time to watch but I've had for what seems like forever.

If after them I'm not too tired then I may give Cursed (NOT the Wes Craven one) a watch as well

Also if you have Sky then Zone Horror are showing 3 Viewers choice movies (The names of which wont be disclosed until they air) tonight between 9PM & I think 3AM which may be worth investigating???

im having several friends round tonight for beers and a few films. not decided what yet, but im going to see whats on tv first (are film 4 showing anything special?)

the people that are coming arent really into horror or gore films, so im sticking on things that are easy to follow and not too crazy. im thinking the descent would be excellent, as none of them have seen that yet.

the hitcher is a great film, might have to put that on as well :smashin:

maybe i'll watch carrie and the hitcher then. and thats two films i haven't seen before, and only 90 mins each, so 6.30-9.30pm taken up. i have lost boys too, i pulled that out. never really liked that film TBH, but it's 90 mins also so could watch that 9.30-11 and then watch george michaels on the south bank show if i can remember to set the PVR to record the second part after the adverts. i forgot the repeat of george michaels star stories last week cuz i was out, and i missed it the first time around too!

I'm just watching Sleepy Hollow on Film 4...

What's the name of that Johnny Depp film where he is a Book Expert, and gets paid a lot of money to find out if a certain book is the original?

On the Horror Zone tonight there are three films which "viewers" have voted for and one of them is a version of Sleepy Hollow called The Hollow at 9pm. Not sure if it will be up to the usual standard of the channel though.

I aim to watch the original Halloween on my R1 version supposed to be the best version with correct shading. Watched it 2 yrs back and is a good transfer.

(Just seen the post above re the same film).

i'll definately watch that again soon, i do like bowie when he appears in movies, the man who fell to earth is one of my fave flicks, but i do like nic roeg too, so good combination. i have both series of the hunger on dvd now thanks to the hmv offers, so it'll be good to start again with the movie

now halloween is over i might start a christmas movie list, and that can be first choice, followed by bowie and bing crosby doing little drummer boy, and the snowman, which has an opening introduction by dame bowie himself

i still haven't brought myself to watch that muppet movie he did, dark crystal or labrythn or whatever it was. that was definately a sign that the drugs don't work
