crashing N80

I have just had my N80 returned after repair, some of the keys would not work phone would freeze and ringtones would grind to a halt. After picking up phone i was told it was a software problem which has now been resolved. The software is still the same version 3.016 and the faults are still there. I have tried doing an update via the nokia site but am unable to as the phone is locked to vodafone. After contacting the custumer services, voda want £20 for the unlock code, is there any way to get around this or is it worth paying the money

You might be able to get the phone unlocked in a phone shop local to you. They usually do this by flashing the firmware with the latest version they have.

Worth a try as it might kill two birds with one stone - unlock your phone and give you new firmware.

Also, I dont think its the phone being locked to Vodafone thats stopping you from updating. Its the customised firmware from Vodafone. So unlocking it might not do the trick as the firmware will still be the customised version.
