Did anyone watch Def Jam uncoverered yaeterday? I am a proper hip hop fan and that was just the cream of what i have been listening to for thelast 10 years.
I have got so many behind the scenes and uncovered DVD's about hip hop artists, but that was so good.
Anyone got any opinions?

Doh - missed it, I'm also a big hip hop fan (common's like water for chocolate is a favorite hence my forum name)
Def Jam were ground breakers and shaped a great deal of why hip hop is so huge now - It takes a nation... by Public Enemy was never off my turntable in the late 80's and brings back some great memories, LL cool J never really did it for me, but I like some of Def Jams newer artists like DMX and some of Jay Z's stuff.
What channel was it on - i'll check to see if it's being repeated.
it was on MTV base, so it will probably be repeated at some time or another. Your avatar is a Tivo symbol, hve you got a tivo? why didn't you set it to record it for you?
I think Jay z has been one of the biggest people to shape hip hop over the last few years, along with DMX and Ja rule, but peple like foxy brown, and LL cool J were rocking it 5 years ago.
The older I've got the more into hip hop I've got. Recently I've been listening to a lot of Cam'ron and fabolous both of which are heavy.
Talking of ground breakers - Snoop Doggs Doggystyle is still a great album.
Anything by snoop or Dre are groundbreakers.
But they are both out the picture at the moment and being superceded. They've certainly done their bit though.
How are they out of the picture? Dre was the biggest earner in music last year. both have gone over to producing more than rapping, dre has produced some of the best albums of the last year. He also has his own label so he earns money from that as well.
I meant from the singing side rather than producing. I find their last stuff not to be anywhere near as good as say around a decade ago. They seemed to lack the originality and the ability to push the boundaries any further.

Tommy Boy.......ground-breaking label...
Def Jam.....Hugely influential label........(Russell Simmons...)
Tim Westwood......pushing from day 1.
Ice T....How good was his bird's body!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groove & Hitman Records London.......'the Meccas'
Dont forget, Schooly D, Kool Moe Dee, EPMD, UltraMagnetic MC's,
Davy DMX, JVC Force, Mantronix, Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock & King
Bee.........plus hundreds of others....
I'm not a huge fan of modern Hip Hop.........

DMX is a king, on stage he is amazing, he does not have any back up singer or anything he just rocks it on his own, you can see he is having a great time as well, he come on stage wearing a suit, and goes off wearing a pair of shorts, covered in sweat.

I know who you are talking about but the DMX I'm talking about is the mutts nuts.
Biggie and 2PAC. Definitely a cut above the rest.
It's good to other guys on this forum who like hip-hop.
I must admit I'm a big Nas fan and love the rest of the Queens Bridge crew.(Except Gay-Z)
But guys if you have not heard Stillmatic then buy this now even if it's just for the track Ether, boy Nas kills it on this track. His first alburm illmatic is also worth you guys checking out and not a Puffy in sight boy i hate that clown.

I can understand why you may hate Tim Westwood, due to his love of talking like a street gangster, but his credentials and influence on the popularity of Hip Hop in this country are not to be under-estimated.
He WAS there back in the day, on LWR radio, DJ'ing the sounds
of the early pioneers..
Check a large proportion of the old Hip Hop LP's & 12's and invariably, you'll find a shout to Westwood...
I've forgotten how many hours i struggled to get a good reception trying to tape his 'new tunes' which were aired....on his pirate shows...
I remember KRS-1 having a pop at him a few years back...
Shame, coz KRS in his day, made some firing stuff.......
(particularly with Scott La Rock)....
