PC to TV, i-Tunes and remote control
I currently have my PC and LCD TV located in separate rooms, however physically they are very close together either side of the internal wall between the living room and dining room.wiring between the two will therefore be straightforward. I have connected up the audio from the computers onboard sound card to my Arcam solo, which is located below the TV in the living room, to allow me to play my MP3s via i-tunes. This is not ideal due to the quality of the music playback from the sound card and the fact that I still need to go back to the dining room to change songs etc. To rectify this I would like to connect to PC to the TV and ideally use my harmony remote control to control i-tunes on the PC from the living room. I therefore have the following questions:
1) What sound card would you recommend, I have been looking at the creative external USB cards
2) What is the best method for connecting from the graphics card (ATI Sapphire X800 gto) to the TV. I could get full 1080p resolution on the TV (Sony 40w2000) using a DVI - HDMI cable but, i have already used both HDMI connectors on the TV (one from the my Oppo dvd and the other for Sky HD) so this wouldn't be a permanent connection. I probably don't need the full resolution anyway for what I want to do, but I'm not sure how else to connect. The card's VGA connector is connected to the monitor and that only leaves the DVI connector and a round connector, possibly s-video. The card does support two monitors though.
3) For the remote control I would like to use my Harmony 555. The web setup page for the remote does list PC remotes, therefore can I get away with just being an infrared reciever for the PC and suitable software or would I be better buying a remote and then learning the commands on the harmony. Any recommended remotes, the only one I've seen one the web is called the streamzap?
