Angry Fuji FinePix 5.2 F450 images too large on PC - help

I am going nuts with two problems and REALLY apprecaite your help - I have a Fuji Finepix F450 5.2 pixel

Problem 1 - when down loading images to the pic and then , say , sending them via email , the recipient gets a hugely oversized image when scrolling down their page . If it is opened via the attatchment paperclip its fine . But when scrolling down the image is huge and it takes an age to send as the file is so large .

Problem 2 - after having downloaded the images , via USB cable , the camera card is wiped blank which is most annoying . Does anybody know how to download the images to the PC and also reatain the images on the card .

PLEASE HELP AS IM GOING NUTS TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS - MORE ANNOYINGLY IM SURE THERE WILL BE A SIMPLE ANWSER - AAAAGGGGG ! Many thanks Barry ( Glasgow )

Give this free program Pix resizer a go. Otherwise you will need to resize your images manually in a photoeditng program before you email them off

Pixresizer will help you resize the images to get them web and email friendly. You can of course email the native file if your folk wish to print them rather than just view them online.

While I have no idea why your images are being wiped off the card, I would suggest ( as a matter of urgency) that you get yourself a usb media card reader such as this to download your images to PC without involving your camera at all . Very handy , dont require any drivers and you will not experience the problem of wiped off images with it.
You can get then virtually anywhere ( google it ) or go to Jessops , PC World ect ( Im not a great fan of Pixmania aithough youll probably be alright buying this off them)

I would presume that you are using the Fuji software to download the pics to your pc? If this is true, then open the program and go to i think it's options and then you can deselect for your images to not be removed when they have transfered.

Hope this helps

Re: Fuji FinePix 5.2 F450 images too large on PC - help

Over the years i have had numerous digital cameras, at work and my own.
i used to load the camera software on the computer and and the computer used to automatically use this particular program to download the pics from the camera.
it used to drive me nuts as it always caused some problem or other, so what i do now is i never use the camera software i have deleted them and simply let windows xp download them with the scanner & camera wizard.
Its so simple and fault free and once they are downloaded, you can do what you want with them from there.

If running XP you can right click an image, select Send To > Mail Recipient & you will be presented with a dialogue box with the option "Make All My Pictures Smaller". This defaults to 640 pixels on the long edge or you can select "Show More Options" to set it to 800 or 1024.

well adding sth more to the issue that is already covered, I would go for the usb readedr which I use too...

easy to use, and in wxtreme situations when the flash drive is somewhere around but not here you may easily use it to transfer files...
