I recently bought a geforce 7600gs AGP card but noticed that the power supply for the card is 300w, my psu is 250w. Anybody experienced with changing psu's, as I really want to install this card. Do I have to buy a specific power supply for my pc or can I just pick up any 300w psu.
Thanks

There are a only a few different types of power supply.
1. Specific manufactures type (very rare)
2. 20pin (most common upto a year ago) and 24pin supplies (latest) count the pins on the main plug connected to your motherboard.
3. ATX (most common) and mATX power supplies.
All you have to do is swop them over cable for cable. BUT do not buy the cheapest supply you can lay your hands on.

Seconded about not buying a cheap psu. Probably the most important part of your pc and buying cheap and nasty could well make more problems and more expense.
Decent makes are Antec, Enermax, OCZ, and Hiper. Corsair have been getting rave reviews recently too.

Thirded.
Why spend £30 on something which could break £1000 worth of other kit ? Get a modular one with a nice neon fan
Definately use one of the brands like Seasonic and Enermax as recommended by Tigerblade.
If you're quick Seasonic are on offer on todayonly at scan
