I want rid of RAID 0

Hello,

My PC came with 2 160GBs in a RAID 0 array however as the tittle suggests, I want to get rid of the RAID 0 array and just have to separate HDDs. It's time for a fresh install of the OS anyway so wiping the drives isn't an issue.

I've done this countless times before but just on 1 drive so the thing I'm unsure about this time is how do I go about reformatting each drive and then installing MCE again when I presume the 2 HDDs are viewed as 1 by the BIOS?

Is it something to do with that Intel Matrix app?

Any help would be appreciated... I did try Google but the results werent much help.

Go into the RAID BIOS, and delete the array.

May sound stupid but to clarify things before I do it... at what point during the re-install do I do this? Is it the 1st thing I do? Then after that reformat the drives using the MCE disk before re-installing MCE itself on one of the newely separated drives?

I'll set aside some time over the weekend and give that a try. Still got lots of backing up to do 1st.

You need to delete the array, before you install any software, otherwise you'll lose any data on the array.

Thanks again dude.... I understand what you're saying but I dont think I made myself clear enough in my original question.

What I want to do is start again from scratch, like if I had just bought 2 new hard drives for a new build.

I dont care about the data that is currently on the drives as I have already backed up most of the important stuff with the rest to follow this weekend.

I then want to format them so after putting MCE back on it will see them as two separate drives.

So, with that in mind... after I've deleted the RAID array will I be presented with the option of what then to do with the drives? Format, partition etc... the usual garb when installing Windows?

I also want to create a partition for MCE but I know how to do that, I just need to know how to get to the bit where it asks me to!

Yes, once the Array is deleted, when you start the Windows installation, you'll be presented with 2 blank HDD's.
