Question Needing help transferring material from Sky+

Hi There,

I am currently having difficulty transferring recorded material from my Sky+ box to my Toshiba RD-XS24 HDD recorder. I am able to transfer recorded programmes no problem to the recorder manually but when I use the copy function where the banner appears (Please make sure VCR is recording) I am only able to get 4 seconds of recording then I get a content protected warning on my Toshiba recorder.

I took off the copy function by pressing the red button returning the programmes in my planner to it's normal state. However if I try to record these programmes again without using the copy function I still get the content protected warning.

The programme I tried recording using this feature was 3 episodes of "Cold Case" on Sky Three. I have been able to transfer other episodes to my recorder because I didn't use the copy function. But it seems that this kind of defeats the purpose of having this sky + function as it should enable you to transfer material to a different source therby freeing up space in the Sky + planner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Needing help transferring material from Sky+

There was a problem regarding Sky 3 a few weeks ago which should now have been fixed.I don't know what the hell Sky were playing at but it appeared to me that badly written software by Sky was tripping in the copy protect function on some current DVD recorders.
There are other posts on this subject - have a look in the archive around 2 weeks ago.

Re: Needing help transferring material from Sky+

Thanks for the reply bud. It seems that a lot of people were having problems just recording from the planner, thank goodness my problem is limited to just using the copy function. Just need to remember and not set any programmes to copy if I want to offload them onto my Toshiba recorder.

Re: Needing help transferring material from Sky+

I got in touch with Toshiba for advice and they say it's a Sky + problem that is tripping the protection, looks as if the buck is going to get passed back and forth. The current version I have on my Sky+ box is

Operating System :- 1.31B00
EPG Software :- sky+4.10.c.

Will try it again when they update the software.

Cheers.

Abyss.
