Using An Antenna Extender cable for Sky BB Router

Sky BB

Has anyone used an 'extender cable' for the wireless router (Negear)?

http://www.netgear.com/Products/Ante...es/Cables.aspx

Is there a maximum length of cable befire the signal deteriotes?

Basically I have the router tucked away in a floor cupboard out of sight and was thinking of bringing the antenna out to get a better reception.

Hi,

havent used cables from these, cables but used similar cables for outdoor point to point wireless installations. And not had any problems with cables up to 10meters long, general advice is to use as short a length as you need.

might be worth getting such things from a more generic supplier like the link below.

if your going to place aerial outside just ensure you have lightening protector as well.

Hi I use an antenna from Maplins, I think it cost about £12, has 1.5 mtr small dia coax & screw connector for router or PC WI-FI card, works very well, the base is magnetised aswell although in my case it just stands on a shelf.

How much room is there in the cupboard?

If you've got 14" height available, screw one of these onto your router instead.

If not, an extension cable upto 5m should be fine... any longer than that and you'll need a 5db antenna aswell.
