Re: movietyme question

hello sparkytoon,
im sure they will come at some stage but to have the player and no films to watch
the films i orderd are ,serenity t3 a view from space fast and furious last samuri chronicles of riddick batman begins.
my old pioneer is a good player and my 4year old nows how to use it so ill keep it going (if only for her).
the new tosh seems to act more like a pc than a dvd player, slow to turn on ,slow to load, maybe it is a? watched a couple of standard dvds last night ,the problem with it freezing seems to have gone(for the minute).was wondering how to find out what firmware it shipped with?dont really want to update the firmware just yet because movietyme say if i do a firmware update and the player crashes its my problem....
do you have one yourself?ifso what films did you get?

Re: movietyme question

We haven't had any problems playing R1 discs but our HD-A1 plays up regularly on HD material, with the movie pausing then skipping forward often with loss of audio synch (do a search on previous posts by myself for more info). We have already applied the 2.0 firmware patch and it didn't make a ha'penny worth of difference.

No one has yet come up with the cause or a possible solution. Nothing worse than getting all excited for a new toy and it messes up out the box.

There seems to be quite a few of these defective HD players kicking round.

Re: movietyme question

I ordered mine Thursday 28th Sept, got the player yesterday. Likewise, the box only contained the player. Trued to be patient as the email from MT did tell me that the discs would be sent via Royal Mail. True enough, 3 out of 7 arrived this morning. heres my thought on that

I too have joined the HDDVD evolution

I have had no problems at all with mine so far. That said I haven't sat through an entire movie yet. I really need to hook up the sound properly, feel that I am shortchanging myself. So I am now trawling the posts re interconnects. I have approached the operation of this player with the mindset that it is a PC, which reigns in my natural impatience (the vast amounts of caffeine in my system don't help either).

I am more than happy at the moment. I did watch Armageddon on Telewest HD last night so I have been able to compare the picture with with that of "Ray" for example and there is a noticable difference in depth and smoothness with the HDDVD over HDTV in this case.

The kids cant tell the difference, which p@**** me off no end for some reason.
