i was just wanderin about the 2 gang tv plate thats regularly put in houses <one says tv and other says fm. the fm is obviously for the radio but are the both connected to the one ariel . im an electrician and dont know its kinda annoyin kinda feel stupid

They use a diplexer or "frequency band separator" (bandpass, highpass or lowpass filtering) at both ends.
FM uses 88-108 MHz frequencies.
UHF TV uses approximately 480-820 MHz frequencies.
Thus they can share the main downlead but need different aerials as well as feeding to different pieces of equipment at the house end.

What he said, my friend had this, but I was wondering though as he only had one aerial which was for tv, not a radio one..., turns out that the guy who installed it put the worng plate in, although it does the same job a single output plate would be more effficient since there is no signal from the FM output as there is no FM Aerial in the first place, guess that is the same for you..replace plate with single tv output one..
