i would assume you mean pc 2.1. If that is the case i have the altec lansing FX6021, not bad speakers. I noticed that the bass box humms a bit when you are close to it and is not a problem unless, like me, you have them in your bedrooma nd if you leave the speakers connected to the mains you can hear them, i can hear quite well and is not aproblem if your hearing isnt as good.
Sound overall is very good if not looking at them in an audiophile way, bass is good as is the tops and mid. However the bass can be wooley if the bassbox is on a wooden floor, if it is on a hard surface then it is very good.

Hi
Yes PC 2.1 speakers are what I'm interested in.
I have 5.1 on Home cinema set up, but for music etc on the pc do you have logictech speakers or something which isn't £50 + but sounds beefy enough.
BTW what is speaker humm all about, my current buns do that.

Before i got the speakers i got now i had a 5.1 package of which i used only 2.1 as that was all i needed. the speakers were a cheap brand called Tsunami and funnily enough they were quite good, although every time someone turned the lights off or on they made a cracking noise, they were very sensitive to power surges and spikes. They cost £60 but i have replaced them now.
If i was you, to get good sound you can get the 2.1 solution but i would get 2.0 ie pc monitor loudspeakers, they give a more hifi sound - example:

I have not heard these but the studio speakers, i have heard from others, are very good.
Speaker humm is due to shoddy grounding on pc's, there are ways around this but unfortunately i do not know what these are myself, maybe someone more technical than me would be able to help out and i would love to know how to get rid of it myself.
If you still want 2.1, try seeing what some of the speakers in the price bracket you are interested sound like in a pc shop. Go to a few and get a feel for the sound. What i would recommend is not to be blasted away from bassy or loud and bassy speakers. The reason is that when you take those bassy beasts home the bass will sound different in your home due to the surface that they are on, ie wooden floors suck bass and sometime accentuate others frequencies so, some type of bass sound real good while others sound flat or non-existant thus you feel the bass can be good at times but it just doesnt feel proper bass ie tight and controlled and agile. Get a solid granite or suchlike block under your subwoofer to get better bass, try getting this from a local stoone mason as they will charge less that say a hifi shop.

just remembered the cambridge soundworks were really good in my pc setup. I dont know if you can but they made 2.1 setup for £50-60 a few years back. Nice whit cubes with good power and frequency respoinse. But it was so long ago nopw i cant remember the exact model.
These are good speakers for your price range.
