Dont count on it anytime soon. Netgear havent even commited to 64bit drivers yet! They also took their forums down so they have obviously have had enough of people monaing about a lack of newer drivers.

My Netgear WG311 connected to my DG834G via Vista without me installnig any drivers whatsoever.

Just started to work straight from the install of RC1

Of course there will be some hardware that will already have drivers built in to Vista, so for those its not a problem.

However newer hardware wont have drivers, for example my SC101 storage box does not work with Vista. Now this isnt down to the drivers, but down to the software simply not working with Vista. It woulnt be too difficult to fix that issue, but are netgear doing that .. Are the ****...

Also netgear have stated that they do not intend to support 64bit until they see the market for it. This attitude from certain companies is whats causing the problem with 64bit Windows currently.

Of course once Vista is available these compaines will have to provide drivers, and hopefully they will start providing 64bit as well.

Vista hasn't even been released yet, don't expect any hardware support other than what comes built into the OS.

You could just as well be slating MS for not including SC101 support in their fabulous new OS?
The SC101 is an existing piece of HW, which MS Vista have so far failed to provide any support for, no?

You'll probably also find the underlying problem with 64bit Windows, is that >9/10 people still have a 32bit CPU. :hiya:

I've got a Netgear WG111v2 USB Wireless Stick and Vista found a driver for it after I ran Windows update. So, some Netgear devices work with Vista, it just seems at the moment the number that do is very small.

OK .........

Its not up to MS to add support for the SC101, as netgear make it!

I was simply trying to point out that netgear are a bit slow on the uptake thats all. I dont expect a beta product to support everything, but the least netgear could do is try and support Vista and 64bit, other companies manage it.

The percentage of 64bit may well be as you stated, but the people that matter, in otherwords the 'tweaker' or the geek (like me), we want these drivers as we want to run a 64bit OS , otherwise whats the point of 64bit processors in the first place?

Also im an IT engineer , so I dont really need a lecture on the minus's of a beta product as I think I covered that in my previous post!

BINGO!

You want drivers for your hardware product? Don't hassle Microsoft, hassle the manufacturer!

Your best bet is to wait for the OS build to be finalised, and then you won't have to hassle anybody. :)

As soon as MS have a final build version, and announce a release date, then Netgear and everybody else will be falling over themselves to release Vista drivers/software.

At this point, Vista itself (as it stands) may never even be released!

It's all about money at the end of the day....

Badboy, If you really want 64bit computing, then Linux is your only viable option for the next 12 months (at least) I'd say.....?

For those that have been sleeping at Netgear to SC101 is still not supported yet two important milestones have been passed.
1 Vista has been released
2 the frist half of 2007 has been and gone

There is a beta driver for the sc101 which works with Vista... i'm using it now.
You will need to sign up to the beta forum though.

Hope this helps
