Humax 9200T PIP Problem

Can anyone help me with a problem that seems to have suddenly occurred with using PIP ( picture in picture) function on humax 9200T.

I can't use PIP anymore! When I press the button for PIP all I get is a box that comes up saying "This channel is restricted by recording" however I'm not recording anything when this message comes up.

I have used PIP many times before so I do know how to use it.

Any information would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Humax 9200T PIP Problem

You need to turn the unit off at the mains then back on again.

There is apparently a bug often referred to as 'think its still recording bug') that may be causing this.

There is a software fix on the Humax web site (1.00.08) but if you want to wait for the next OTA fix the only solution is a power cycle. I think it is clearly understood what causes the problem hence the fix now available - something about scheduling 2 back to back recordings in the inverse cronological order. Re: Humax 9200T PIP Problem

The direct cause is scheduling 2 overlapped recordings on the same channel and its a bug reported about 11 months ago with no sign of interest from Humax.

The recent outbreak of errors from it was caused by Humaxs brain dead autopadding implementation. Instead of fixing the underlying bug and making overlapped recordings just work (like they do on different channels) the halfwits tried to disable padding where it might trigger the bug. And forgot half the cases, despite being told publicly BEFORE adding autopadding that this would happen. Scheduling out of order is one way this happens, repeat timers can make this impossible to spot. Its not obvious if they fixed the actual bug or simply tinkered with the autopad rules to avoid it (but my moneys on just tinkering).

Humax engineers seem to lack any interest in going beyond whats written on their worksheet however obvious or bad the omissions and mistakes, always take the easiest programming option however hard that makes later fixes and generally show no sign of caring how well the box works. Nearly a year on they've still not worked out how to increase the timers from 20 to 50 because some idiot took the easy option and hard coded it.

I sometimes think they all have Topfields if they watch TV at all.

Re: Humax 9200T PIP Problem

I will try switching it off from the back.
Have something recording at the moment but will let you know if successful.

Thanks again!
