Currently have 2x6600GTs in SLI - after something that will allow me to run Company of Heroes in a good high res with plenty of detail

Few months back looked at a 512MB X1800 ATI card - but can not see them at a good price anywhere now

Anyone recommend anything up to about £150

Look at either a 7800GTX, 7800GT or x1800. At that price point all would be 256mb I'd guess.

You can pick up 256mb 7800GTX's for between £130-150 nowadays and that would be a BIG improvement over 6600GT's in SLi (in fact a quick look on this sites computer sales/wants forum one went for £125 recently). Then you can always slap a second in when the price is right and get a bigger boost. The 7800GT will be slightly cheaper as it is slightly less powerful. Haven't seen any second hand x1800's for a while.

Every so often there are 512mb 7800GTX's on ebay and they are the daddy when it comes to bang for buck. Basically on par with a 7900GTX for literally half the price. As rare as hen's teeth now tho but amazingly good/fast cards for the money.

you can get a X1800 (256mb) for about £135 brand new and overclock it a bit for a nice quick card.

or you could go for a X1900XT (256mb) for about £170 brand new

Otherwise as mentioned the 7800GTX are still stonkingly good cards for the 2nd hand value

I'd go for a 7900GS, available from OCUK (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7900_Series.html) (I know!) for just over £130 delivered if you go for their own version (¾ of the way down the page). They appear to be excellent overclockers too, and will leave your 6600GT's in the dust!

7800GTX is still faster, has more pipes and is at the same price point. Or the 7800GT which will be similar powered should be quite a bit cheaper.

Depends wether you want to go new tho I guess.

Tempted by the OCUK but I know what the I know means :)

Where can I get a 7800GTX for £130 from ?

Try sticking a wanted add in the computer sales and wants. That's where I saw the last 7800GTX go for at that price.

Worth a try for a bit more horse power

Great little overclocker by all accounts and capable of some stunning speeds
