I'll be getting Sky BB (8mb) this week and the router will be some 10m from my Tel socket.
Along the run in bewteen it will be alongside a whole series of mains, speaker, scart, ethernet cables etc.

So am I right in assuming a good quality 10m shielded telephone cable (with ferrite cores?) is in order, to reduce th erisk of dropouts? Or will the provided ADSl filter be sufficient?

So getting one from the 'local pound shop' is out of the question then ?

Taking into considertation the up to 3 miles of cable between you and your BT exchange, running alongside underground mains and piggy backed on a conventional telephone voice pair, the extra 10m in your house shouldn't make an ounce of difference. Only something very obviously faulty should affect performance.;)

Isn't it wireless anyway?

FWIW I run about 20Mtrs cheap cable between my wall socket & my router and it has no ill effect on my 8Mb ADSL connection.

Thought so, so basically the (digital) signal will be unaffected unlike an analogue signal coming out of an STB, i.e. a cheapo SCART compared to a good quality screened SCART (but let's not go too far down that route) ;)

Thanks, that'll do for me.

Router has to go in a certain place, which is neatly tucked away and where my existing wired router is. (was)
May as well use existing ethernet cables rather than go to the expense of making PC and xbox 360 wireless, plus I don't think my Sling Box will connect wirelessly.
