I bought a Nikon D50 on 12/09/06. This is my first proper camera so I have a lot to learn. I have taken these photo's with the 18mm -55mm lens that came with the camera. Hope you like some of them. Thanks for looking.

I'm not into photography, but yes, nice.
The barbed wire is good.
But my fave is the last one.
You've captured a perfect example of someone holding up the traffic in the outside lane :smashin:
If I have to criticise, as someone who knows nothing about cameras, the focus seems too sharp on the main item, making everything else over blurry.
Or maybe that was your intention?

Just my no-knowledge tuppence worth mate, no offence intended :smashin:

None of the photo's have been cropped or messed around with yet. It's going to take me ages to understand how everything works on this camera:confused: So I'm staying away from editing programs for now. I'll get information overload.:)

No offence taken. Without criticism I won't improve. I'll take all comments on board. The shot's where Ive zoomed in on stuff like the barbed wire i was trying to get really sharp and the background blurry. For some reason I like to do these kind of shots. I think I maybe do to many of them though.

If you just want to crop or convert to black & white- just very basic changes you should try Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/). It's a free download from Google, doesn't change the original file and will in no way contribute towards information overload :)

Fair play :smashin:

I really am coming with no knowledge though.
Seems your camera does a lovely close-up (is that macro?)

I just look at the latest threads and stick my nose in from time to time.
I have noticed the D50 mentioned a few times. Seems very popular now :smashin:
Good luck with getting to know it mate, I have a crappy Nikkon coolpix 2200
The settings on that, bamboozle me :(

Tell me about the settings:confused: There are just so many. So far I've just had it on auto mode as anything I take in manual looks crap. lol.
Have you posted any photo's on here yet?

Oh and there's no macro on the lens I have. Just get up really close and click. I don't know if macro will make them look even better?

Even though I'd been using my point & shoot on manual I still found the D50 a bit intimidating. You don't have to go straight to full manual control, try out shutter or aperture priority first.

No way.
As I said, I pop in from time to time, just to be nosey.

You'd do better to listen to the likes of Ilweran, he has some idea :smashin:

I've always fancied photography, but haven't a clue as to what's wanted.
In a world where a druggy like Kate Moss can earn millions for being a druggy, I think I'm better off not knowing :(

He's a she

I've only had a dSLR for a few weeks myself, so I'm no expert. I started with a Sony point & shoot and learnt to use all of its settings before moving up.

Nice one ilweran. I just downloaded picasa and had a little play. I'm impressed. Can see myself getting quite creative. Many hours ahead messing with photo's on this PC I think. lol

Nice shot of the barbed wire with the fence post nicely out of focus behind.
Wish I had taken it myself.

Always good to maintain viewers focus by throwing out of focus unecessary clutter in the background.Use the macro or close up feature to do that.

Xlnt work
