Green stripe on right of picture, aaarrrrggghhh!

Hi,
I'm trying to capture video from my Sony Hi8 camcorder to my PC, I've got a Leadtek capture card (don't think that's the problem as I had this exact problem with another capture card I had ages ago). Anyway.. when I capture the video there is a green stripe down the right hand side of the picture (it's in the preview window as well). Where is it coming from and is there anything I can do to get rid of it? Also has anyone had any success using Leadtek WinPVR because as soon as I press the capture button it just crashes (so resorting to using Ulead videostudio 8 instead)

Right, I've captured the video (albeit with the green stripe down the side), used software to create menus/chapters etc and create a dvd. When I play the dvd using Powerdvd on my PC it looks fine, so I burnt it and when I play it in my dvd player (xbox 360 or Panny SCHT855 all in one) the movement is all jerky. When someone moves the movement isn't smooth. It's hard to describe but I'm at a loss to know what I've done wrong cos it looked fine when I played it on the computer. Any ideas please? By the way I used Ulead dvd factory 3 SE software to capture and create the dvd.
