Hi,
I'm looking for a new BB provider and have considered be there 24 meg, Sky, pipex and demon. I initially didn't consider BT due to the cap but have found that BT offer unlimited 8 meg business broadband (http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com/broadband/single)for £29.99 per month.
Before I place an order could someone answer me a few questions:
1. Will I be able to use XBox Live on BT's business broadband?
2. How reliable is BT broadband and is the customer sevice any good?
3. Out of the 5 providers mentioned (BE, Sky, Pipex, Demon and BT Business) are there any that have any significant advantages or disadvantages over the others?
4. What advantages does a static IP have over dynamic?
Cheers:thumbsup:

1) Yes
2) same as everyone else
3) BT Business, all the others are capped.
4) None unless you want to host your own website
You won't get 8meg unless you are next door to the exchange.
These guys offer the same service as BT Businass but are a bit cheaper (BT is £30 + VAT).

Thanks for the reply.
According to the BT website I should get 6meg but as long as I get 4meg+ and unlimited download then I'm happy:)

How close exactly do you need to be to get the full speed braoband that provided in your area. I guess being a street away is MUCH better than being other side of the town from the exchange?

You'd be surprised - it depends entirely on how long the cable is. It could go in a big mile long loop before it gets to the street next to the exchange. Sometimes its just totally random!!

Not that it makes much difference but I think it's £29.99 + VAT... as it's business (well it used to be)
I used to have it a few years ago at home but outage time was stupid sometimes taking up to a week to fix (still have this problem at work now with BT, but have no other option there!)
Nice to have a fixed IP for different things but this can be overcome with a dynamic using an IP tracker for free, for the last few years I have been on NTL (if you can get it??) with no problems (10mb, £34.99) and have totaly abused it for downloads with no problem at all and in 3 years I can still count on one had how many times it has been out and never for more than a few hours
Don't get me wrong i'm not 'bigging up' NTL as there CS is crap but BB connection/service is the fastest and most reliable I have seen out there.

Sky max is unlimited as far as I am aware but will double check before I order it tomorrow!!!
We have BT broadband and find loggin in during early hours of morn can be problematic but unless you got insomnia or whatever like me that won't be a problem lol.
