Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction for the best software for recording studio software. My son and his band spend 100's every month on hiring out a studio. Is there a viable option, maybe with the addition of hardware, to save a bit of cash.
Thanks

One very popular program is Cakewalk (http://www.cakewalk.com/) that comes in many versions with differing features and of course prices.
A few other options can be seen Here (http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/page/shop/browse/category_id/dc45037d38dde98b7738a016991c1f07).

Ableton Live is very very good, fairly easy to use and incredibly powerful.
No real need for any other hardware, other than a mixer to plug everything into, and a decent soundcard (ASIO) in the PC. :)

Thanks for the replies. Will look into those suggestions, cakewalk seems to have so many options, a lot to get my head around ;)
nobody like Cubase?
I use Cubase SX3 and it can do almost anything with both audio and midi.

Cubase (http://www.steinberg.net/27_1.html) - that's the other one I couldn't remember of the name of :suicide:
By all accounts it is a very good package - about as good as Cakewalk - but apparently more difficault to initially learn. I've not used it but this was the general advice I got when trying to find out about these audio packages a few years back.
