New sub forum?

When did this come about?, oh well, so any point in upgrading to 2GB of Ram 4*512mb Sticks, already have 2*512MB, with Vista out will 2GB be enough, reason asking as all my DIMM slots would be full then so no room for upgrading, so wondering weather i should sell existing two 512mb sticks and buy 2 *1GB sticks leaving 2 DIMM slots free for upgrading if needed..

in a simple answer - yes you would be better with 2 x 1gb sticks. did the same upgrade and sold my 2 x 512mb modules and got 2 x 1gb sticks.

Also this has less stress on the memory controller on the cpu.

Agreed, in a 1 stick vs 2 stick vs 4 stick scenario 2 sticks is the winner. There you get the benefits of dual channel, without the overhead of addressing 2 banks.
