I have seen that this can be downloaded for free but is it any good?
A friend at work downloaded it and said it messed up his albums and put them in a weird order.Anyone else tried it or had experience of it.

I take it you haven't used media player before...
It can monitor your music library and can rearrange the folders the files are stored in, this can be turned off though. When you use a new piece of sfotware it really is worth looking at the configurable options.
I have uised Media Player for years and haven't moved to WMP11 yet but plan to once it is out of Beta. Currently using WMP10 and really like it.

Edit* Although they were problems reported with compressed ID3 tags.

I use WMP10 all the time and the way it arranges the music when i rip it is fine for me, but not sure what you mean by being able to turn it off. I might be thinking of what you mean but in a different way.
So how do you turn it off, this will just make it easyer for me to understand.

Just set the My Music folder to not monitored.
