DUAL 505 TURNTABLE anyone?

I have been in possession of this beautiful belt driven DUAL turntable for approximately 10 years now after inheriting it from a close friend. It is in original condition and boasts an Ortofon cartridge and stylus. It sounds absolutely beautiful to say the leasts!

I have never heard of nor seen another turntable by this brand before. Therefore have posted this on here for you enthusiasts to comment on and give me some advice as to it's history and value.

Looking forward to reading comments people!

Re: DUAL 505 TURNTABLE anyone?

It was my first turntable (cs-505-1) and saw daily use until the purchase of my first cd player. By this time the Dual had seen better days and has since been replaced with a Revolver turntable. Unfortunately my days as a mobile DJ means my record collection is not in great condition so I rarely spin records. I do remember the Dual as being very forgiving and able to reproduce the music I listened to very well through the home built amp and speakers I used back then.

Used to have one of these until last year (sold for £45) and was used in our second system as it was the best value/sounding auto lift turntable. It was a very common deck only let down on the early ones by the cartridge mounting, which required an adaptor to use the 1/2 inch standard, I believe mk2 onward had the normal mount. You can still buy the CS 505-4 for about 340euro.

So, Paul, would you say to ask £45 from someone is about right? Only i'm unsure as to whether to sell on or not!

Re: DUAL 505 TURNTABLE anyone?

The 505 was the staple front end of many a budget package around the mid Eighties. An almost universal "best buy" at around £100. Still got mine waiting for the chance to see daylight again.

A quick search on completed listings on Ebay suggests it's only worth around £25-30. Having said that, if someone is prepared to pay more....
