They have to have been/will be in all 9 films

This will get the movie boffings going

Good luck

HI,

It's Harrison Ford - He was in the Star Wars Trilogy, the Indiana Jones series, and also as secret government agent, Jack Ryan, in the films based on the Tom Clancy novels!

Too easy. ;)

Hate to say it Pooch - you're wrong.

Ford has only played Jack Ryan in 2 movies, the third Ryan movie had Ben Affleck in the role.

It depends on your viewpoint, but it's arguably a trick question.

The closest answer I can give is Christopher Lee - who was in 3 LOTR movies, 3 Muskateer movies and played Dracula in more than 3 Hammer movies, as well as Fu Manchu in multiple movies also.

I give up, I’ve found quite a few actors who have done two trilogies, but are one short of a third...
Hugo Weaving – Matrix, LOTR, but only(?) two babe movies
Harrison Ford – Star Wars OT, Indiana Jones, but two Jack Ryan movies and 2 American Graffitis.
James Earl Jones – Star Wars OT, three Jack Ryans, but two Lion Kings
Judge Reinhold – Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy, Santa Clause Trilogy, two Beethovens
Matt Damon – Bourne Trilogy, Ocean's Eleven Trilogy, but only two of Kevin Smith’s Jersey Trology.
Eddie Murphy – Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy, Shrek Trilogy, but two Dr Doolittle’s, two 48hrs, and two Nutty Professors.
Mike Myers – Austin Powers Trilogy, Shrek Trilogy, but two Wayne’s Worlds.
Michael J. Fox – Back to the Future Trilogy, Stuart Little Trilogy, but only managed two homeward bounds and couldn’t even be bothered with Teen Wolf Too (but then again, neither can I:rolleyes:).
Even Danny Trejo has managed all three Spy Kids, all three Dusk’Til dawns, but lets us down by only managing two of Robert Rodriguez's Mariachi trilogy.

Then there’s even more people like Ian McKellen who have done two (X-Men, LOTR), but I’ve not managed to find three yet.

It'll either be someone really obvious, or some bit part actor who you always see and try and think what you've seen them in before.

EDIT: This link might help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_movie_trilogies

Only 2 Star Wars films (I thought only 1, but a check on IMDB says 2).

Mind you - that's a controversial one - do you consider SW as 6 movies or 2 seperate trilogies (4-6 and 1-3)? Or are you counting the 2 Ewok movies with ROTJ - which wouldn't really be part of a trilogy.

I still maintain Christopher Lee though :)

Christopher Lee

LOTR x 3
Fu Manchu x 5
Three, Four and Return of the Musketeers x 3

By that dubious logic you could argue that Desmond Llewelyn starred in 5 trilogies from the 17 James Bond films he appeared in.

Can only think of Christopher Lee as well - can add a few Dracula movies to his collection (are they counted being same character?)

Thought maybe someone like Clint Eastwood but he's only got 2 trilogies and a 2 film

Was thinking maybe Bruce Campbell

2xSpiderman - probably be in the third
3xEvil Dead
3xCoen Brothers films, don't think they count as a trilogy though (Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, Ladykillers)

What do you think?

Not really a trilogy. Thought of BC but I don't think he is in Spidey 3. Ted Raimi must be a good bet, but how bit part can these actors be.

Now thinking that the questions doesn't have a definitive answer for now, surely with so many film buffs such a question would be answered fairly quickly?

Surely all pub quizzes can't 100% accurate.

The answer will probably be incorrect, you'll hear the answer and you'll notice that the actor wasn't in the 3rd film or something to that effect, or they just have to be in one movie of each trilogy.

Its either some obscure ethnic actor or a director who takes tiny parts in his movies, those options aside I say impossible.

That is 3 different trilogies

Rocky I, II, III - 1 Trilogy
Rocky IV, V, VI - 2nd Trilogy
Rambo I, II, III - The 3rd Trilogy.

After all, the 6 Star Wars films are refered to as two seperate trilogies.

Klacey wins!

I don't think you can count the Rocky films as two seperate trilogies. They are just 6 films about the same guy. Indeed you can't count any 3 of them as a trilogy in itself IMHO. By that logic Robert Englund only needs to make one more Nightmare movie to achieve the same feat.

I can see the Star Wars movies as being two trilogies because each trilogy has different central characters (Obi Wan, Padme and Anakin, then Han, Luke and Leia).

Rocky I,II,III - The good trilogy
Rocky IV,V,VI - The bad trilogy

DTSFan2001

Considering the Star Wars "prequel" trilogy came out quite a while after the original trilogy (A good 16 years from Jedi to Phantom) and obviously being two different trilogies, I don't think it's anything like the Rocky series of films. Rocky came out every few years and each was a continuation of the last so they must all be taken into account, instead of split into 2.

And no - The Rocky's aren't 2 trilogies. It's hard enough referring to them as films.

well here goes...
I don't think there is an answer to this one. Jackie Chan was in Police Story 1-4 , the first three (out of four) "Lucky Stars" movies and is currently filming Rush Hour 3 so it's close but no cigar.

From Cool Movie Trivia :

Do you know of an actor or actress who has starred in three seperate sets of trilogies? We are having a hell of a time coming up with any, the best we could do was Christopher Lee, for LOTR, all those Dracula movies he made and the new Star Wars trilogy (even though he didn't appear in the first installment!)
-Lee
CMT Answer:
That's a toughie. Christopher Lee is maybe one of the closest you could get for a major Hollywood actor. Another super-close one could be Harrison Ford for Indy, Star Wars, and two Jack Ryan movies (not a trilogy and he's still one flick shy). You've also got Hugo Weaving for Matrix and LOTR, but no third trilogy. Mel Gibson for Mad Max and Lethal Weapon (four flicks), no third trilogy. Mel could make a couple of Bird on a Wire sequels still.

If you were just going for starring in at least one entry in three separate trilogies, but not having to be in all three movies, then the floodgates open right up. One example would be Samuel L. Jackson- Die Hard trilogy (Part 3), Jurassic Park trilogy (Part 1), Star Wars prequels.

Our August 31st 'actors in three trilogies' question from our continues to pull in feedback. Larry wrote in with a whole whack of two-trilogy actors, including Frank Oz in Star Wars and Muppets movies, and James Earl Jones in the Tom Clancy flicks and Star Wars. He also noted: "The only one who might come close to being featured in three trilogies might be Warwick Davis. He was featured in Star Wars, Leprechaun, and Harry Potter. Of course Harry Potter 3 isn't out yet. " (Cal note: pretty close, yes, but he was only in Jedi in the original trilogy and Episode I in the prequels).

They don't kinow either.

apparantly if a movie has more than 3 e.g star wars, it isn't really a trilogie, it is infact a quadlogie?

but is the answer christopher lee? cuz i suppose at one point the movies were trilogies?

DTSFan2001
12-09-2006, 11:26 AM
There are a couple of actors who come close but are 1 short:

Michael J Fox: Back To The Future Trilogy, Stuart Little Trilogy and Homeward Bound 1 & 2.

Danny Trejo: From Dusk Till Dawn Trilogy, Spy Kids Trilogy and 2/3 of The Rodriguez series of Matador films (Desperado & Once Upon A Time In Mexico).

TeJero

there are so many closes that the endless for the closet would be for never ending... or miles too long... so really there is no answer, is that why you havent posted an answer:grin:
