1920 dvd - sound output problem

Hi (my first post in here, yey!)

I have a problem with the sound output settings on my 1920 dvd-player.

My patches are as follows:

VID: HDMI out -> DVI-in Plasma screen

AUD: Digital coax out -> digital in Reciever (Marantz 5500)

The reciever displays that it recieves digital signals when I play back a dvd.

When I run the test signals on the speaker settings I only get sound from my two front speakers. I have chosen Bitstream out and tried both HDMI sound out and analog 5.1, same result.

Can anyone help?

Hi

Where are you generating the test tones from, the amp, the player or a disc?

Re: 1920 dvd - sound output problem

Hi, Jase!

It's a function in the dvd setup menu where you can send test signals, it sends a tone first in left front, then centre, then right front a.s.f.

When I do the same on my reciever (it has a similar test function), I get signals on all channels, so I know the connections are right.

Re: 1920 dvd - sound output problem

Usually the test tones would only apply to the 5.1 Analog Outputs of the DVD player. As long as you have Bitstream selected in the player it will pass all the relevant info to the Amp for decoding. You can easily test it by putting in a disc and seeing what mode the Amp goes into. It should be Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS (if you choose a disc with a DTS track and select it).

Re: 1920 dvd - sound output problem

And after a little (more) fiddling with all the remotes and buttons, suddenly it all works

Thanx
