View Full Version : 24 on DVD
Play.com are advertising the very good (IMHO) 24 on DVD for 35quid(tenner off). There are no details about the pack. i.e. is it all the 24 episodes, format etc. Anyone know any more??
thanks in advance
Why not send them an email (they are quite good at replying quickly) and then post the answer here?
Play don't have any info. There reply was we would have put it on the site if we had. Fair enough. Found this though on the bbc 24 message board:
1. Contains All 24 Episodes From Series 1 Spread Over 6 Discs.
2. Widescreen 1.78:1 Anamorphic
3. Languages- English
4. Region 2/PAL/Colour
5. Running Time 17 Hours
That sounds good except that I would have expected it to be a total of 18 hours (24 x 45 minute episodes).
Good point but If you remove the what happened last week and possibly the I'm Jack Bauer and this is the worst...etc. x24 , then you could loose a good hour.
lets hope its not censored
You're right. I hadn't thought of that.
HMV are advertising it too:

According to DVDtimes, the R1 release will have DD5.1, but R2 will only have DD2.0. More extras on R1 too.
So, they won't sell many of those.

You'd be surprised how little "in the know" the general public is ;)
dvd.co.uk are doing the boxed set (R2) for £33.99 http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=24028DVD
I've not used them though, so I don't know how good they are.

Heres details of the R1 release from dvdreview
Looks Great  --
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is preparing a box set for the television show that turned its nose up at conventional television storytelling. The real-time political thriller 24 is coming this fall.
Jack Bauer has to race the clock to handle both a presidential candidate assassination plot and his daughter's kidnapping. But unlike many thrillers, as Jack runs through the toughest 24 hours of his life, so are the audience as the show is presented in real-time, making the entire run of the first season one continuous 24 hour series of events.
Each episode will be presented in anamorphic widescreen to match their original HDTV broadcasts and will have audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. Audio commentaries will accompany some episodes and two featurettes on the series will be included. More features may join the set before the final release.
Joining the already packed release date of September 17th, "24" will be priced at $59.95.
Taken from R2-Project:
Many thanks to Fox's UK PR company who have been in touch with FOX in the U.S to ask about the U.S release of "24" As many of you know a couple of U.S DVD sites "announced" a R1 release last week that looked a lot better than the U.K release. However, Fox's UK PR tell us that the U.S announcement is mistaken, the US release is Dolby surround, not 5.1. It only has 1 alternate ending, with commentary--same as UK. They do have the season 2 preview from Kiefer which is on the U.K release. So now we know.
