Question re: Surround back settings on AVR 2803
Hello
Just wanted to check a couple of things regarding the surround back settings on my 2803.
From memory it gives me settings : Matrixed, non-matrixed, normal (on) and normal (off) (well, thats my interpretation of MTRXD and NRML or something like that).
The question is - what do they all do?
My interpretation is : Matrixed is engaging EX processing for Dolby sources, non-matrixed just outputs the surround left and surround right through the surround back left and right as well, but the 'Normal' ones I'm not sure. Are they the DTS ES equivalent of matrixed / non- matrixed?
On a non EX / ES DD or DTS soundtrack, what is the effect of engaging the EX / ES mode?
I suppose I could (should!) just try all these out, but it would be useful to have pointers from someone 'in the know'.
Thanks!
