Is it just me or does anyone eelse who has Homechoice think the quaality is awful?, I mean to me the images that run seem to be as if they are streamed off the internet, the contrast is very high and you can see all of the blocks of the pixels.

I am running i through a Panasonic PD50 so it can't be the telly as it plays DVD's fine, I am really dissapointed, I have contacted them and they are apparently "upgrading the system to MPEG4", but am not sure if it has already been done and this is the quality fo the service, as I have read on the internet that they completed the upgrade at the end of last year. I think that the service is brilliant with all the channels e.t.c, but the picture quality is worse than freeview and I am paying a monthly fee for it.

I am considering getting a 32" HD LCD, but am worried that it will look worse on this

Does anyone know anything about Homechoice and it's quality issues and how they can be overcome?

I don't find the quality to be great either, currently running a 26" LCD. But I see it as a method of getting free TV in my room as I have poor ariel reception.

I find the picture rubbish too, especially on more minority channels, and it's more obvious now I've upgraded my TV to a 26" LCD. There is a setting (accessible via the Homechoice) help screen for RGB (as opposed to PAL) output - it might be worth checking that's set correctly. Otherwise hopefully the upgrade will help us all.

I've got HC running into my 26" LG LCD via an JS Tech RGB to Component Video Converter. This improved the picture so much that friends have commented on it. I had it running through Scart(RGB) but the picture was worse than through my old Panny CRT; don't ask me why but the JS Tech box of tricks improved the picture. The picture has never been pin sharp, but the move to MPEG4 (which happened this time last year) improved it; I've been with HC for nearly 2 years.

There's talk about HD developement but the problem with HC is that there's always a lot of talk and rumours; they're not very good at keeping customers informed. Have a look at the Digital Spy HC forum http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/forumdisplay.php?f=93

Don't blame you but for anyone renting a flat with no Freeview, Sky or cable it's the only option.

I have terminated my contract with Homechoice and ordered Sky.

I am not prepared to put up with the awful picture quality - looks like i'm watching a divx video all the time. I think Sky will be a step up, also you get Sky +, 4 channel mixes and 8Mb broadband for cheaper than the package I had with HC.

If only HC sorted their pic quality issue, the on demand stuff is good and the music package is brilliant, but it's the screen I watch and for me it's just not good enough
